Unexplained Infertility And Infertility Depression Work In Pairs

Recent percentages put unexplained infertility among couples at 8% to 33%. Some of this may be due to some sort of female infertility. When this unexplained infertility goes on and on, it can of course lead to an infertility depression.

Then again some women may simply be putting of pregnancy until their careers have been established. For older women and men, an undiagnosed underlying medical condition can hinder fertility or decrease their opportunities to conceive a child.

The stress from unexplained infertility can easily lead to an infertility depression. The question then arises, how to deal with it?

Depression Due To Infertility

There are a number of different invasive and uncomfortable tests plus fertility treatments which can cause a financial strain. Without immediate results, this can further contribute to the development of anxiety and depression.

It's best to anticipate unwanted answers that delay pregnancy because conflicting emotions contribute to numerous physical side effects. On top of this there's a strain on relationships, performance at work, and simply the enjoyment of life.

Men and women can display an infertility depression in different ways. One spouse may be hopeful and the other feeling depressed. Not actually being in touch with one another, a couple can further perpetuate their infertility and depression. There may also be further side effects which can lead to anger and frustration.

Female Infertility

It's rather well established that women who undergo fertility treatments but don't see results face a higher risk of falling into a depression. But knowing this information makes it easier to remain calm and continue the treatments.

More than 10% of men who undergo a fertility treatment experience some type of fertility depression. You need to know that some couples who participate in an unsuccessful infertility treatment suffer from depression at the same level as someone battling chronic illnesses from cancer. But knowing this makes it easier to undertake any steps necessary with a firm resolve.

It's quite true that women who don't fall into depression have higher fertility than those who do. This could be the result of anti-depressant medications. Some causes not related to depression may be a pelvic inflammatory disease, smoking residue, or alcohol effects.

Researchers have found that women who have been taking an anti-depressant medication for more than six months involuntarily raise their infertility by three levels.

Infertility And Depression

It's sad that women with a history of depression may further increase their unexplained infertility. For these women, infertility treatments and testing may bring about greater stress and an emotional roller coaster ride. One study with women who were participating in IVF treatments found that they were already more depressed and had a lower self-esteem than women who tended to be more fertile.

The longer a treatment lasts, the more there is a tendency to show a depression due to infertility. In a study that compared women undergoing their first treatment cycle to women with a longer treatment period, the latter group tended to show a greater depression.

The important lesson is to go into a fertility treatment with a calm composure and to resolve to stay that way. Stress and fertility depression is a danger to be avoided.

Patients may ask doctors to prescribe a depression medication. But for those couples who want to conceive, unless the depression is moderate to severe it is perhaps best to first attempt a natural means of treatment.

Rely on exercise, a healthy nutritional diet, and a vitamin intake. If these measures don't quite work out, then medication should be considered before the depression becomes worse or threatens anyone's health.

Infertility depression shouldn't be an all-consuming event. Learn to recognize what causes it. Believe in your body and boost your self-esteem. Conception and birth comes easier to those who don't let depression, anxiety, and stress take over.

How would you feel if you learned today that you are pregnant? Carry that feeling of self-confidence with you every day and you'll surprise yourself. Maybe everything is just as simple as not hurrying to get pregnant.
